Prayers are Answered

So, our prayers that doctors would figure out what is wrong with Brandon, Ryan's brother, were answered. They weren't answered how we expected, but at least we have a diagnosis. On Thursday morning, after going to an internal medicine doctor, he was sent to the emergency room and admitted to the hospital. After several tests, CAT scans, CT scans, and a bone marrow biopsy on Friday, he was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma. It's a type of cancer that attacks your bones, so that is why his back has been in so much pain. It has been very aggressive, he has compression fractures throughout his entire spine, but he is young and strong, so doctors are optimistic that although it isn't a curable cancer at this time, it should go into remission. Ryan and I flew up to Salt Lake first thing Friday morning, so we've been here to support his family. Over the past few days, there have been several small miracles that have assured all of us that the Lord is mindful of the situation. While it has been a difficult few days, we feel peaceful that things will work out. Brandon has been so strong, as has his new wife Katie. What an amazing example of love and faith they are being to all of us. Please keep them and their families in your thoughts and prayers. It's going to be a long road, but we all feel like if anyone can make it through, it's Brandon.

I just saw your previous post this morning and was talking to your mom. I am so relieved they have a diganosis and can start treating the cancer. I know that ministering angels are close by and the next days, months and years ahead will draw all heavenward. All our love and prayers. Let us know if there is anything we can do from afar. Keeping Brandon and the entire family in our prayers.

Subject: Co-pay assistance for patients with Multiple Myeloma

Message: Beth,

I just wanted to shoot you a quick message to let you know about our
organization. Patient Access Network Foundation provides co-pay
assistance for medications to insured patients who cannot afford the
co-pays for their treatment. We currently have 20 disease funds
including Multiple Myeloma.

Patients are eligible for assistance as long as they have insurance
that covers part of the cost of the medication, their income is below
400% of the federal poverty level, and they are a US resident.

Patients can apply by visiting our website at
www.patientaccessnetwork.org or by calling to speak with one of our
case managers at 1.866.316.7261.

If you could pass this information on to other patients you know, or
post a link in your blog, we would really appreciate it! We’re
trying to help out every patient we can, and every little bit helps!

Thanks,

Ashley Hutton
Patient Access Network Foundation
