Dear Justin,
We can't believe you are already one month old. You are the center of our world and definitely the boss of the house these days. We cater to your every demand! Ever since bringing you home, you have been a joy to have around. You are a great eater and gained back your birth weight very quickly. Just 10 days after coming home from the hospital, we went to the Dr. and expected that you had gained the average of an ounce a day since your visit 8 days earlier. Instead, you more than doubled that by gaining 17 oz., surpassing your birth weight and tipping the scales at 8 lbs. 12 oz.
During the first few weeks, you had your days and nights mixed up. You slept all day and just wanted to hang out at night with Mom. Not crying or fussing, just wide awake. Your sleeping habits are getting better, and sometimes you'll even sleep for 4 hours at a time. We LOVE those nights!
The only times you cry are when you are hungry, when you have a dirty diaper, or when your tummy is hurting due to gas. Most of the time though, when you're awake, you just sit and hang out looking all around and taking in the world around you. You don't like getting your clothes changed, but you love bath time and getting lotion put on afterwards. You are very cuddly and love to be really close to Mom. You especially like putting your cheek right on my mouth when I sing to you so that it is right in your ear. When Dad holds you, you prefer that he holds you out in front of him and gently bounces you up and down. Anytime you are fussy, you LOVE to have your hands held; it calms you right down.
You have several nicknames: JR, Monkey, Little Man, Houdini (somehow you get out of even the tightest swaddle job), Peanut, Handsome, and we're sure to come up with more as time goes on! You make wonderful noises that keep us constantly entertained along with fantastic facial expressions. We can't wait for you to smile on purpose...the sneak peak at your smile we get when you're sleeping is adorable.
