Non Stop July

The month of July was a non-stop, multi-destination month that was a lot of fun, but it has left me kinda tired and definitely ready to be home and back into a normal routine. Here is the July agenda...
July 3rd- drove to Walnut Creek, CA
July 4th- flew to Dominican Republic thru Miami, FL
July 10th- sat in the D.R. airport for 18 hours, then flew to Miami
July 11th- flew home to LAX
July 14th- flew to SLC for Plewe Reunion
July 18th- flew back to LAX
July 26th- drove to Huntington Beach for Dinner Club w/ past roomies from LA
July 27th- drove to San Diego to see my Grandma who was visiting from ID
July 28th- flew to SLC for BYU Roommate Reunion
Aug 1st- flew back to LAX

Amid all the traveling, Ryan has been working around the clock to finish his research and get his thesis ready to present/defend tomorrow, August 4th. (Needless to say he didn't accompany me and JR for any of the fun after the Plewe Reunion!) Once that is out of the way, the job search will be the top priority. We are both so ready to put UCLA behind us and move on to the next phase. I'm not putting a timeframe on it though because I am slowly, but surely, learning and accepting that the Lord has his own timeline that I'm not in charge of!

Here are some pictures from the month's adventures!
(I already posted the D.R., so this is some of the other stuff)

Trip to SLC for the Plewe Reunion

My 91 Year-old Nana
My Mom's Mom. Her husband, Bob, is where the "R" in JR comes from for Robert. We miss Grandpa Bob, he passed away just a couple of weeks before Justin was born.

The 2nd trip to SLC, I met up with my sister, Katie, and her 2 kids at the Dinosaur Museum at Thanksgiving Point. What a great place for kids! Cousin Ryan LOVES Justin. It's fun to see them interact now that JR is old enough to really understand what Ryan is saying. They were so cute together.
So this is where we stayed for the Roommate Reunion, the Holt's house
Huntsville, UT right on Pineview Reservoir

The four of us were all roommates at BYU and got rid of our kids for the weekend, so it could be just us girls again. A little bit of background...me and Laurel W. have been friends since 2nd grade back when my family moved to CT. Laurel W. moved to the Bay area with her family just a few month before my family moved to Walnut Creek back in 7th grade. Then, we both found ourselves in the same dorms at BYU. Lindsay and Trisha are both from Vegas and met both each other and the Laurels freshman year in the dorms. Laurel W.'s parents, The Holts, built this house a few years ago after moving back to UT from CA. It was an amazing home to sum it up mildly complete with hen house, an English Garden, a pool, and a giant Sorry board (pictured below).

By land or by sea, we had a blast! We rode the jet skiis, did some paddle boarding, and even got in a workout of water aerobics thanks to our certified instructor, Trisha! Laurel's youngest brother, Price (18), gave us a golf cart tour of the town of Huntsville that was really fun. We ate at a couple of funky restaurants that could only be found in a small town like Huntsville, but the food was good. It's always nice to be with your best friends, but it's even better when no one has kids to worry about and nothing on the agenda besides relaxing and catching up.
