2 Years Old!

Dear Justin,

Wow! 2 Years Old! I don't even know where to begin, and I have to admit, just sitting down to write this brings tears to my eyes for so many reasons. For starters, the miracle of your birth is still so fresh in my mind, the ways to make me smile and laugh every single day, the transition of having a career to a full-time Mom, the gratitude I feel for being able to be a full-time Mom, to the fact that you are growing up so fast, the way you amaze me with the things you say and do...like I said, so many reasons!

You really are amazing. Anyone who says they don't like 2-year-olds has never met one like you before. In one word, you are delightful. You are a great communicator, which is why I think you've never been one for major tantrums. You are perpetually happy and absolutely love life. Rarely do you every get cranky...when you're tired, you get a bit clingy, but not cranky. You say hi to everyone and everything, and "dood-bye" for that matter also. A lot of things are still the same as they were very early on- you love to jump, read books, holding hands, snuggling, wrestling, body slams, running fast, spinning, dancing (the minute you hear music you are groovin'!), "moozit" (music), being outside, helping Mom and Dad with whatever we are doing, trucks, trains, "lawn mowmers" and any other yard equipment that makes a sound, tools- especially measuring and hammering like you see us doing when we hang pictures. Your interest can be captivated by "Mittey Mouse," "Melmo," and "Sooper Drober." Your favorite animal is definitely an "elepant" but "moo towes" and dinosaurs are a close second. You love bikes and balls and really "lub beenty" (love binky). You play pretend with your "titchen" and make us "eddies" (eggies) or anything else we might request. If I say "don't smile" you give me the best little grin I've ever seen! Your favorite color seems to be "lellow" these days, but you also really like "peent" (pink) too. You love to get into little spaces and/or hide and shout "tum fine me" or "wheres Justin?" or " 'prise!" You also love to chase or be chased. You do a great "strong man" and all sorts of jumping tricks in your "trib." You come right out and say, "I tritty."

You are very good at zippers (both up and down) and taking your socks off, you're getting better at putting your socks on, you do the velcro on your shoes, and you definitely like to have a say in what you are wearing! Recently, you started to like coloring for short periods of time and doing stickers. You already know several letters and can identify them both visually and aurally like "o" for "otopus," and you can count all by yourself from 1-10. You often say "tank you mommy" when I give you something and are pretty good about saying "please." Just today, we were at Target and I put my arms around you and you said, "Lub oo Mommy" just because. You are such a sweetheart. Your vocabulary is astounding! Truly. I don't think I could even count all the words that you say.  Everyone comments on how well you can talk. That, and your beautiful blue eyes!

You are a good eater when you want to be. You are not picky about what you're eating (usually) but it is hard to get you to sit still long enough to get very much in. Some of your favorites are noodle dishes, canned green beans, any fruit, hot dogs, gold fish, and fruit snacks. You LOVE to have "dippies" and will basically eat anything if it has a dip. You sleep pretty good- usually 11-12 hours at night and a 2-3 hour nap in the afternoon. You still go through spurts of waking up at night, but usually go right back to sleep after we have come in and told you everything is okay. I'm not quite sure how I'm every going to get rid of that darn binky though!

Like I said, you are growing up so fast, and it makes me a little bit sad that our time together just the two of us is coming to an end. You are going to be a great big brother and already say hello to baby brother daily. You request that we say "payrs" every night, and you have started to say little bits and pieces on your own. "dear hebenly fahdder....lub mom, dad...." I love that! We love you so much and look forward to every new phase with you. I really have nothing to complain about when it comes to your disposition- like I said at the beginning, you are positively delightful! Happy Birthday my lovey!

Love,
Mommy

Aww, reading about everything that Justin can do makes me so excited for Cal to start doing them too, like I can't wait until he tells me he loves me (right now he just "tells" me by putting his hands on my cheek or hugging me really tight.) Justin is such a sweetie pie!:)
