Outings with JR

We are finally getting out and exploring the Sacramento area! Recently, we went to Fairytale Town and the Folsom City Zoo.

Justin LOVED Fairytale Town. It was so fun to watch him just run around. It's really cute how they have taken all the old classic fairy tales and made various play structures to go with them. Some even had the animals, like the 3 Little Pigs and Little Bo Peep's sheep. Justin wasn't scared at all to go down some seriously high and steep slides like Jack and the Bean Stalk and The Old Woman's shoe, he watered Mr. MacGregor's Garden for a long time, drove Cinderella's carriage and rode the pretend horses, explored the Crooked Mile, and much more...he seriously loved it.

The Folsom City Zoo was quaint. It is more of an animal preserve than a zoo and is much smaller than the zoos that we've been reading about. When I told him we were going to the zoo that morning, he kept saying, "Elepant? See elepant?" (no, that's not a type, that's how he says it!) To his great disappointment, no "elepants" at the Folsom Zoo, so I assured him we would go to the big zoo another day. It was nice to have it be such a small and easily accessible place though. He could get out and walk without me worrying about losing him, and you can get pretty close to the animals because the exhibits are fairly small. He did get to see brown bears, a tiger, LOTS of roosters and peacocks, a huge swine, some monkeys, foxes, birds, skunks, and a couple of other smaller animals. I think his favorite part though was riding the little steam train! Of course there were tears when it was time to get off since he desperately wanted to ride it again. The other nice thing about the zoo is that there is a park right next to it with a great play structure for kids JR's age. So, we ate our picnic lunch at the park and Justin got to run around and play for a bit before heading home for a nap.
I forgot my camera, so this is all I have from my phone of him "roaring" as a little bear cub!

I love that you're getting out to explore! And fun to see places we've been when visiting my sister. I can't believe JR went down those huge slides! Fairytale town is so cute and the little train by Folsom Zoo is adorable. So fun! Enjoy this middle stage of pregnancy!!
