The Honeymoon

The Honeymoon
Playa del Carmen, Mexico

Did it really have to go by so fast? We had an AMAZING time. We absolutely loved our resort. In the picture, we're standing outside our 2 bdrm. 2 bthrm. suite that was complete with a full kitchen with granite counter tops, a great big jacuzzi tub right there on our balcony, and the beautiful beach just at the end of the resort. It was so much fun. The people were all very friendly, and everywhere we went, Ryan proudly announced that we had just gotten married. It made me smile everytime. We had pretty good weather the whole time. Some days it was a bit cloudy and windy, but always warm. A couple nights there were some tropical thunder showers, but nothing to complain about. Actually, the one thing I do feel is worthy of complaint is the fact that I had a kink in my neck for the first 3 days! I could only look to one side without being in major pain. That included only being able to sleep on one side too. What a drag. But, with great neck massages from my loving husband and some overdoses of ibuprofen, it eventually went away.

We went to Cozomel and went snorkling for a day. We also rented a scooter to check out the island in the evening, but unfortunately got eaten alive by mosquitoes. It was pretty funny actually...we're driving along, it's sunset, we're feeling very much like honeymooners, and we see an entrance to the Cozomel Country Club and think, "Oh- that's probably a nice drive, let's check it out." So, we turn in and see a sign for "Crab Crossing." We laugh at it and no more than 2 seconds later, we start seeing TONS of crabs crossing the little road! Meanwhile, the bugs are getting worse and worse as we go, but I jump off the scooter to get a picture anyway. Well, in those brief moments of getting the pictures, I was attacked by mosquitoes and started freaking out. I ran back to the scooter and shouted to Ryan, "Go, go, go!" He tried to ask if I had even gotten a good picture but I was too concerned with the bugs biting me that I just shouted, "I don't care about the pictures anymore....just GO!!!" It was pretty funny. We then headed back to Playa on the ship and....dun dun dun....we BOTH got seasick. Ryan was a lot worse off than me; I felt really bad for him. He lasted about 10-15 minutes before the first of several unpleasant "outbursts" and I made it about 40 minutes before mine. The whole ride was about 45 minutes, and it was extremely tossy! We were both very glad to be back on solid ground. Ryan actually kissed the dock when we got off.

We also took a day and went to Tulum to see the ruins of the city that are right on a cliff. They actually quarried out the hillside to make the city. Had we known that we were going to have access to the most beautiful beach of all time, we would have worn our suits. It was gorgeous! I saw a couple little English kids complaining to their "Mum" that they just "simply HAD to go in the water, he was dying for a swum!" Good thing our kids won't have accents or I would never be able to say no.

Then, there were a couple other days where we just hung out at the pool/beach at the resort and went into downtown Playa del Carmen. We had some great pina coladas and other specialty drinks everywhere we went. (All virgin of course!) Actually, we were served one that wasn't, even though we had asked for it to be, and we both tasted it and thought...."something about this tastes kinda funky." When we asked the waiter, he apologized profusely for the mistake and brought out another one.

Anyway, it was a great trip, and as you all know me and my love for travel and adventure, you can bet I'll be planning another one as soon as possible! I'm working on a little slideshow of pictures...it will be up by the end of the day.

LOL, I love the lipstick kiss on Ryan's face. That might be the best part of the whole photo! :)
